Hebrews 3

Jesus Greater Than Moses

Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,”[a] bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.

Warning Against Unbelief

So, as the Holy Spirit says:

“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion,
during the time of testing in the wilderness,
where your ancestors tested and tried me,
though for forty years they saw what I did.
10 That is why I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
11 So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”[b]

12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. 15 As has just been said:

“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion.”[c]

16 Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?17 And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? 19 So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.

Hebrews 3

HOLD ON to the one who holds YOU! Be encouraged because God is for you and on your side. YOU ARE LOVED. Please know and get that.

‘Therefore’ the very first word we are continuing from yesterday.

“Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭3:1‬ NIV

So much just in this one sentence. Pastor Harry giving us some points from this verse this morning.
1) Partner with each other Brothers and sisters in Christ.
2) Fix your eyes and thoughts on Jesus.
3) Acknowledge Him in everything!

We are united together. When another one is struggling so should we be Standing beside them, supporting them and lifting them up in prayer. Check on them… i’ve been praying for your situation how’s it going? They might still be stuck in that wilderness, the Israelites were stuck there for 40 years!

Eventually we can celebrate with them when the prayer is answered. It might take a long time and yet it might take a week, a few hours but always support one another. Gods timing.
and remember: God‘s answers aren’t always the answer that we want or expect. When we’re praying, especially for loved ones pain to be released, healing, … sometimes the answer means God needs to bring them home. Then they can be healed and pain-free. Look to him, acknowledge him and wait for him to answer. But sometimes it’s hard in this crazy world… To hear him and know what he wants.

1) If you want to hear God be near God.
God doesn’t yell he speaks Pastor Harry said. He doesn’t have to. He tells us ‘Be still and know that I am God’. We often ask God to speak louder… maybe we just need to get closer to him so we can hear him because we’re standing too far away.

2) If you want to be familiar with God’s voice, be familiar with the word of God.
God’s word filters through all the mess. Find a verse that speaks to you and make it your phone background. Memorize it, adhere to it daily. Then when you know that one and another situation arises find a new verse and do the same thing.

3) Lower the noise and you’ll hear his voice.
There are so many distractions in this world pulling us away. Put the phone on mute sometimes. Schedule quiet time to be alone with God. Time to get real with him and have intentional conversations. Listen. Let him speak to your heart.

Please remember that God is faithful to his house. Jesus is always faithful… we are the ones who lose faith in him. He will not give up on us… we give up on him. I love verse seven when the Holy Spirit instructs us TODAY! It is an urgent plea. Don’t wait for tomorrow, don’t wait for next week don’t wait for when you’re old, TODAY start that relationship. You know the saying don’t put off what you can do today until tomorrow.
The Invitation says TODAY!
You can’t get help from a person if you don’t have a relationship with them. We harden our heart because of church hurt, bad things that have happened in our life. We blame God… Harden our hearts. God can’t help us if we don’t let him. Just because God‘s answer wasn’t what we wanted doesn’t mean that it wasn’t the best answer. When we don’t include God in our life we miss out on a lot of blessings that he has in store for us. Open up your hearts, soften your heart and allow him to work in and through you.
