GOD AT WORK IN SUFFERING

Mar 12, 2023    PASTOR MATT MOULIERT

PASTOR MATT MOULIERT FROM CROSSROADS CHURCH BRINGS US AN INSPIRING WORD OF HOW GOD WORKED AND IS STILL WORKING IN HIS LIFE.

WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT LINKS EVERY HUMAN BEING ON EARTH?

ANSWER…SUFFERING

GOD AT WORK

(IN SUFFERING)

I will not die but live and proclaim what the LORD has done

Psalm 118:17

SUFFERING DOESN’T HAVE TO DEFINE YOU

IN SUFFERING GOD GIVES YOU HIS VERY BEST…HIS PRESENCE

If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he

will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your

Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up

Daniel 3:17-18

Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t

there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, Your

Majesty.” 25 He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed,

and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”

Daniel 3:24-25

SUFFERING REMINDS US THAT WE ARE NOT IN CONTROL

He had seven sons and three daughters, 3 and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand

camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of

servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East.

Job 1:2-3

At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship

21 and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and

the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.” 22 In all this, Job did not sin by

charging God with wrongdoing.

Job 1:20-22

SUFFERING MOVES YOUR THEOLOGY

we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings,

because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and

character, hope.

Romans 5:3-4

SUFFERING WILL END ONE DAY

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or

pain, for the old order of things has passed away.

Revelation 21:4

SUFFERING OPENS DOORS

God had the power to save Jesus from death. And while Jesus was on earth, he begged God

with loud crying and tears to save him. He truly worshiped God, and God listened to his

prayers.

Hebrews 5:6 (CEV)

Jesus is God's own Son, but still he had to suffer before he could learn what it really means to

obey God. 9 Suffering made Jesus perfect, and now he can save forever all who obey him

Hebrews 5:8-9 (CEV)

Jesus’ greatest suffering (the cross) was turned into the greatest victory of all (our salvation)

THERE IS ALWAYS PURPOSE IN SUFFERING
