[AMP] not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.
The writer of Hebrews compels these believers not to stop, forsake, abandon, and meet together because, in community is where life truly happens.
A tremendous value at Fusion Church is moving out of rows and into circles. We find in circles life happens. In circles, we find that we can process difficult questions that may not be best answered in more extensive group sessions. We find in circles we are indeed able to express deeper insecurities that often drive us subconsciously.
Finally, in this verse of Hebrews, we are instructed to encourage one another. This is something that, after participating in circle groups for nearly two decades, I found almost every time I come together in a circle group, and I am encouraged. I find that I might have had a tough day, had some challenging news given to me, and the list can go on, but when I come into my circle group, I am often encouraged and find a breath of fresh air comes into me because I have not stopped, abandoned or quite getting together to encourage ourselves in all the good things that the Lord is doing.
