 Treasures In Heaven

But lay up for yourself treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Matthew 6:20

Having an eternal perspective keeps my life in check and my priorities in order!

Please keep in mind that this earth and everything in it is passing away. I come in contact with a lot of Christians that have a hard time with this because the thought of entering into eternity without seeing their dreams fulfilled on earth eats away at them. We all have a bucket list to do before Jesus comes back, I totally understand this. And I have heard Christians say, “I hope Jesus doesn’t come back before I do this or do that!” Oh how dangerous this thought process is!

In 1 Peter 2:11 we are called Pilgrims, and we must ALWAYS remember that we are just passing through this life on earth. James 4:14 says we are like a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow. We are not promised tomorrow and Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:20 when He says to lay up for yourself treasures in heaven. Jesus is warning us that we need to have an eternal perspective.

As disciples of Christ we must have a Kingdom mindset, and we must be a people that long for the coming of the King and be excited about it. Please receive this truth today and allow it to renew your minds. We must have an awareness of eternity every day so that we can work out our salvation with fear and trembling.

Don’t dig too deep into the soil of this earth, but be rooted in the eternal reality that awaits us. Store up treasures in Heaven by giving sacrificially and with the understanding that eternity could be just a heartbeat away.

Confession: I will set my mind on things that are eternal so I can give my life to the Kingdom of God.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to live my life with an eternal perspective and mindset.
