Day 17 – THE FATHERS RESTING PLACE
The Lord says, “Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool; what is the house that you would build for Me, and what is the place of My rest? – Isaiah 66:1
The children of Israel didn’t have a theology of the presence of God, they had the manifested presence of God in their midst. Just imagine what a sight that was, to see the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night. And not just to see it but to actually know it was time to pack up and change locations because God was moving. When the presence of God moved, Israel moved. To think that the King of the universe confined Himself to a man made tabernacle has to make you wonder why He would do such a thing.
The answer is simple and not complicated at all. The plan from the very beginning was that God wanted to live with His creation, so He humbled Himself to live in a temple made with hands so He could make His presence known to His people. The greatest desire our heavenly Father has is to have fellowship with you. Its so sad how we take this for granted and that we don’t cherish His presence the way we are supposed to. In the Old Testament Gods resting place was in a building, and if you are a child of God, His resting place is now in you.
You are Gods resting place because you are the Temple of God! You must not take this lightly. The place where the High priest could only enter once a year for the remission of the Hebrews sin was called the Holy of Holies. The Holy of Holies is now in you. Please receive this truth today. We have 24 hour access to the very throne room of God because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and because of His blood that was shed for you and me. How wonderful and magnificent is this gift!!
You were bought at a price so God can live in you. Your focus today is just to ponder on this wonderful truth and to let it sink into your heart. Allow the Holy Spirit to give you revelation by opening the eyes of your heart and show you who you really are.
PRAYER: Holy Spirit open the eyes of my heart and help me understand that I am Gods resting place. Help me understand that I am the temple of God and that I was bought at a very high price so I can have access to the very throne room of heaven. In Jesus name, Amen!
FASTING TIP: Thank God for His ability to sustain you during the fast and rely on His power.
