Day 8 – Follow Me!
Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men – Matthew 4:19
When Jesus says, “Follow Me” He is actually saying, “Imitate Me.” Yesterdays devotional was on the words we speak and how they need to line up with Gods word so they can be faith filled. But, if our words line up with Gods word and our lives (our actions) don’t line up, then we have a serious problem. If our actions don’t resemble the life of our Lord and Savior, we really need to evaluate if we really are true disciples of Christ. There are more pretenders than imitators in the Church today and I believe God is weeding out the pretenders.
If you decide to do a biblical Daniel fast, then fruit will become your best friend.
I love fruit, especially during the summer time when the scorching sun is beating down on me. There is nothing like a bowl of refreshing fruit on a hot summers day to cool you off and to satisfy that sweet tooth.
The Bibles talks about fruit because Jesus loves fruit. Actually, in Matthew 7:17 Jesus says that a good tree will always produce good fruit, and a bad tree will always produce bad fruit. Our actions, what we do, how we live is fruit! Please understand this because this very important. The way we live, good or bad will determine only two kinds of results.
Obedience will ALWAYS result in GOOD FRUIT, and disobedience will ALWAYS result in BAD FRUIT. There is no way to get around this. Fruit (our actions) is evidence of what kind of tree we are. Jesus brings clarity to this in Matthew 7:18
and He explains that a good tree cannot bear bad fruit and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. So I ask you today, what kind of tree are you?
Are you having trouble figuring out if you’re a good tree or a bad tree? Let me help you because I love you! Look at the daily fruit that comes out of your life. The proof isn’t in the pudding, its in the fruit!
PRAYER: Holy Spirit, inspect my fruit and help me to be honest with you and with myself. Help me imitate Jesus so I can be a good tree.
CONFESSION: I am created to do good works in Christ Jesus! And I do good works not to be saved but because I am saved!
