Day 4 – Dependency
“Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes?” – Matthew 6:25-34
The Lord is calling you today to become like a little child and to start acknowledging your Heavenly Fathers provision. Children have a way of just trusting that Mom and Dad our going to take care of their needs and they don’t lose any sleep in the process. Why is this? Faith!
The child’s faith in their parents removes all fears and worries because they know someone greater then themselves has it under control. When our problems appear bigger than our God, we have believed a lie. This lie poisons the intimate relationship we are supposed to have with our heavenly Father, because our focus is on the problem rather than on our God.
Where is your focus? What has most of your attention? Is it on the late mortgage payment? Is it on the fact that you don’t have health insurance? Maybe your attention is so much on your health because you received some bad news from the doctor. Whatever it is that you’re facing, stop putting all your attention on the problem and put your focus on how big our God is.
The Bible can help change your perspective on how big our heavenly Father is, if we allow the Holy Spirit to breath and bring the scriptures to life. Let the Holy Spirit bring Psalm 97 to life and start trusting like a little child.
PRAYER: Holy Spirit please help me take my eyes off of the problem and help me see how big the Father is. Please help me become like a little child so I can have the faith I need to have an intimate relationship with my heavenly Father. In Jesus name, Amen.
