Day 19 – Motive for Service
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them- Ephesians 2:10
As workers in the kingdom of God, we are called to be set apart for the Fathers purpose. What I find so magnificent, is the fact how different we all are and how God has blessed us with so many different gifts and talents. It’s why we are called the body of Christ. We have different gifts and different functions so we can bless the Father and others.
Are you busy when it comes to building the kingdom of God? Are you busy with ministering to others that need to see Christ Jesus? Have you volunteered your time to be in the nursery on a Sunday morning at your local church, maybe teach a class there as well? Maybe you’re involved in the music ministry, prayer team or you are a barista at the café and help out with refreshments at your local church as well.
Your time and talents is much appreciated, but I have one question: Why do you serve or take the time to minister to others? Are you looking for recognition? Are you looking for a thank you or a pat on the back? I believe everyone that serves should be appreciated by their brothers and sisters in Christ, but that shouldn’t be your motive or intent to serve. What is your motive to serve the Body of Christ? Is your service motivated by obligation, recognition or love?
Here is truth that will change your life forever if you allow it to. When we receive the unconditional love and acceptance of the Father, our service to the Body of Christ is pure and true. When we receive revelation of Gods love for us, we are able to love others and serve them without expecting anything in return. Is your motive for service love? If not, then allow the Holy Spirit to change your heart by asking Him to align your heart with His heart. Take the time today to evaluate why you serve in ministry, and let love be the reason why you do what you do!
PRAYER: Holy Spirit please search my heart and mind. I need to know your unconditional love and acceptance so my service can be pure and true. In Jesus name, Amen!!
FASTING TIP: Fasting can cause discomfort making you irritable so keep good watch over your temperament.
