Day 10 – Motive For Purity

…but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” – 1 Peter 1:15, 16

I remember driving to work and just telling the Holy Spirit how much I loved Him and thanking Him because how good He is. In the midst of my praise, I felt the Spirit of God tell me to quiet down because He wanted to tell me something. Sometimes I can over do it with my praise and never allow God to speak, but not this time. God wanted to say something and He was going to make sure He got a word in! As I kept quiet, the Holy Spirit told me, “What I want to do on the earth today, requires holiness.”

It was as clear as day! It wasn’t an audible voice I heard with my natural ears; it was from within my spirit that I can hear this important message that God was telling me. The depth of my heart longs for the Father to do the supernatural and I believe that our God still does miracles today, but there is a price to pay to see a mighty move of God in the United States. That price is holiness! When the Bible tells you to be holy because God is holy, we must not take this lightly.

The simple message that God was telling me that day in my car was that what He wants to do through His Bride (The Church), requires us to be set apart and to not love the passions of this world. To be holy means that you want to remove everything that will hinder intimacy with the Father.

We must make the decision today to remove ALL that gets in the way with the most important relationship you will ever have on this planet. Our motive to be holy must be “I want to” rather than “I have to.” The test of love comes with a choice that needs to be made. Our love to be holy so we can bring glory to the Father is tested every day and the Holy Spirit has been given to us so we can make the right choice every time.

So ask you today, what is your motive to be set apart from the passions of this worldly system so that Gods kingdom can flow through you?

PRAYER: Holy Spirit help me and strengthen me today to be set apart from this worldly system. It’s so hard not to love the things of this earth and yet I know you are calling me to only love the things you love. Please turn my “have to be holy” into a “ I want to be holy.” In Jesus name, Amen!

FASTING TIP: Be discrete about your fast. It is not necessary to tell everyone what you are doing. God will reward you.
